AARVEN

AARVEN collaborates with small-scale artisan groups in Africa and Kenya to create housewares and accessories from recycled and natural materials and access international markets. They offer handwoven baskets and housewares, olive wood tableware, hand block-printed textiles, jewelry made from recycled brass, aluminum, and silver, and other ethically and sustainably sourced products through their shops in Margate and Rye, their online store, and their wholesale partners. AARVEN designs long-lasting products, provides well-paid dignified work to women in rural communities, preserves traditional crafts, minimizes waste, and packs products in recycled and recyclable materials. They consolidate orders from all the small groups they work with and ship by sea to the United Kingdom. AARVEN donates two percent of sales from Kenyan and Ugandan products to African Promise and SALVE International. They are an accredited Living Wage Employer and a member of Blue Patch.


ABARI

Adobe and Bamboo Research Institute (ABARI) is a socially and environmentally committed research, design and construction firm that was established in 2006 to "examine, encourage, and celebrate the vernacular architectural tradition of Nepal." They integrate local knowledge of natural materials like bamboo, adobe, stone, and reed with contemporary design. Modern construction is one of the most polluting and extractive industries, but ABARI shows it does not have to be so. There are healthy, beautiful, and strong natural materials that can provide comfortable, secure shelter without a negative ecological footprint. In Chitwan, ABARI is working with more than 200 farmers to plant bamboo along river banks, which increases biodiversity and protects the banks from erosion. They purchase the full grown bamboo at fair prices and train local artisans to create baskets, furniture, and homes. After the 2015 earthquake, ABARI promoted a decentralized owner-driven reconstruction (ODR) approach. They distribute free open source designs for schools and homes and support safe earth and bamboo building design and construction in natural disaster affected areas.


ABBA Agri

ABBA Agri Consultancy focuses on providing practical, environmentally sustainable solutions for agricultural problems. Consultancy services include home gardening and organic agricultural practices, edible landscaping, garden design, farm development and productivity enhancement, guidance for organic certification and documentation, technology transfer, market linkages, farmer training programs and workshops.


ABC Life Support

ABC Life Support delivers accessible, interactive, engaging, and memorable first aid and mental health training to all. They provide workplaces with mandatory first aid training in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and with mental health first aid training to ensure staff safety and wellbeing. ABC Life Support uses the proceeds from these direct training services to ensure people from all backgrounds have access to the same lifesaving skills. They provide free or discounted training to local charities and community groups. ABC Life Support specializes in pediatric first aid and focuses on training parents and caregivers in life-saving techniques that could help prevent a child’s death. They are a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC) and reinvest all surplus towards their mission. ABC Life Support is a member of Social Enterprise UK, Social Enterprise East of England, Hunts Forum of Voluntary Organisations, Cambridge Council of Voluntary Services, and the Federation of Small Businesses.


A Beautiful Story

A Beautiful Story is a women-led social enterprise that specializes in handmade jewelry and cards. Each piece contains the story of its maker and the meaning of the gemstone and design for the wearer. A Beautiful Story started with a group of ten artisans in Nepal in 2006 and steadily expanded. Their goal is to produce and sell on all continents and create more than 1,000 sustainable and fair jobs that go beyond the basics of safe working conditions and a living wage to provide health services, paid maternity leave, child care, pensions, stable wages, interest free loans, training and coaching, quality education for artisans' children and more. A Beautiful Story is committed to sustainable sourcing and developing traceable supply chains for semiprecious gemstones. They use Forest Stewardship Council certified paper, gold plating from Germany that meets European standards, and as much recycled silver as possible. A Beautiful Story partners with Beads for Life, a women's empowerment project in Nepal, and is a member of Social Enterprise Netherlands.


Abetec Hub

Abetec provides customized training and resources to empower women and youth in peri-urban and rural areas of Africa to pursue their dreams, build sustainable livelihoods, and break the cycle of poverty and inequality. Their practical training programs focus on developing digital literacy, vocational skills, and entrepreneurship skills. For founders in the Mombasa area, the Abetec Hub provides co-working space, startup boot camps, incubators, accelerators, and business mentorship.


Abhayabhumi

Abhayabhumi produces Sinhala language media content and affordable print magazines. Their mission is "educate to empower," and they tend to highlight environmental issues and community stories that are not covered by traditional media outlets. They collaborate closely with grassroots groups and conservation organizations. Abhayabhumi is a traditional Sri Lankan concept that calls for rulers to conduct their duties according to noble ideals and provide protection to all peoples and all sentient beings.


Ability Agriculture

Ability Agriculture increases awareness, support, inclusion, and opportunities for people with disabilities in agriculture. Their online community creates a space for members to share experiences and adaptations, their Agcess platform facilitates accessible apprenticeships and employment by connecting individuals with disabilities to agricultural workplaces, and their Ability AgriCheck program provides consultations, on-site assessments, and tailored feedback to help businesses and events improve accessibility and disability confidence. They provide Youth Livestock sponsorships to help young people with disabilities advance their skills in agricultural livestock showing and Ability Agripreneur scholarships to support people with ideas for accessible agriculture. Ability Agriculture is a member of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC) and Australian Registered Charities and Not-for-profits (ACNC). They are a not-for-profit organization and reinvest all surplus towards their mission.


Ability Enterprises

Ability Enterprises empowers people who have faced employment barriers in regional Queensland by providing individualized support, meaningful work, and employment pathways. They develop strategic community and corporate partnerships to offer a range of contract services including operation of waste management facilities for the Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC), rural bin collection, clean waste recycling, cleaning, commercial gardening, administration, and hospitality. Their Trash & Treasure initiative reduces landfill waste by providing collection points for reusable goods, processing the items, and reselling them onsite for a small fee. The Ability Enterprises team includes people with lived experience of mental health challenges and physical disabilities, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) Australians, and Indigenous Australians. They have an employee assistance program for mental health and wellbeing and access to training opportunities and food and transport assistance if needed. Ability Enterprises is a Social Traders Certified Social Enterprise and a member of the Queensland Social Enterprise Council (QSEC).


Abimaan Organic

Abimaan Organic is a farm in northeastern Sri Lanka committed to organic cultivation for a healthy community. They grow organic paddy, legumes, vegetables, banana, papaya, pomegranate, lemon, mango, cashew, moringa, and more. Abimaan Organic saves seeds and produces and sells compost and organic inputs made from locally available materials. They are verified under a local organic participatory guarantee system (PGS).


Abrazo Style

Abrazo Style produces handcrafted fair trade clothing and accessories and creates economic opportunities for indigenous women artisans in rural communities of Oaxaca and Chiapas, Mexico. They offer hand-embroidered blouses, dresses, and jumpers and handwoven scarves, wraps, and bags that blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Abrazo Style collaborates directly with artisans to ensure they receive fair pay and have safe working conditions. They provide skills training and create entrepreneurial opportunities for artisans and support staff. Abrazo Style is a Fair Trade Federation verified member and a member of WeTheChange.


Abridge Academy

Abridge Academy bridges east and west through education with a focus on cultural exchange, language learning, and inspiring the next generation of teachers. They offer affordable accredited TEFL teacher training courses, placements for summer camps, au pairs, and homestay tutors, online tutoring opportunities, and cultural exchange programs in China. As part of their commitment to ensuring programs are accessible, they provide travel funding for all in-country program participants and training scholarships for people from low-income or ethnic minority backgrounds. They also offer a free online community for anyone passionate about cultural exchange between Europe and Asia. Abridge Academy minimizes the environmental impact of their programs by working with local partners, prioritizing online communication, planning international travel to reduce emissions, and offsetting the carbon emissions of required flights.


Abstracts

Abstracts aims to connect people with the beauty of nature through their canvas paintings. They also offer public workshops so that others can experience the benefit of painting and creative self-expression. Art is seen as way to reduce stress, release emotions, and support emotional wellbeing. Abstracts uses locally made canvas frames from recycled pallet wood. Ten percent of all sales are donated to a community charity that supports people in need.


Accedo Intel

Accedo Intel specializes in environmental, social, governance (ESG), and climate risk consulting to help small and medium enterprises in Sri Lanka navigate the complexities of sustainability and climate change. They provide public seminars and webinars, bespoke training, in-house consulting, advisory and risk management services, and compliance certifications to help turn ESG challenges into competitive advantages. Accedo Intel supports the Shiranee Joseph de Saram Foundation.


Ace Enterprise Park

Ace Enterprise Park was founded in 1995 to provide flexible workspace solutions for entrepreneurs, foster innovation and creativity, and deliver meaningful impact in South County Dublin. They offer coworking memberships, training and meeting rooms, dedicated spaces for emerging and established businesses, shared kitchen space for food startups, therapy rooms for therapists, counselors, and wellness professionals, a portable media suite for digital artists and content creators, business mentoring, training, and networking opportunities. Ace Enterprise Park supports inclusion and community development by providing space at below-market rates and free for eligible local community groups with no funding. They have formed a Sustainable Energy Community with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, and they are working with Ace members and the broader community to reduce climate impact. Ace Enterprise Park is a registered charity and a member of Connected Hubs. They reinvest all surplus towards their mission.


ACH

ACH provides resettlement services for refugee and newly arrived communities in the United Kingdom to develop their independence and equip them with the skills they need to gain sustainable employment. Their holistic integration approach includes accommodation, business support, language classes, employment training, advice, guidance, and social integration programs. They provide safe, secure, and comfortable housing to more than 700 people each year in Birmingham, Bristol, Wolverhampton and Coventry. HIMILO, their training subsidiary, offers courses, apprenticeships, and career advice to more than 2,500 people. ACH also provides national and international research and consultancy services and promotes the positive contribution that refugees can have on local communities through their #rethinkingrefugee campaign. They are registered as a not-for-profit social enterprise.


Achcharu

Achcharu was founded to bring the skills of traditional Sri Lankan artisans to the modern world. Their initial collection includes handmade batik superhero sarong for men and women. All of the batik work is done by women in the Kalagedihena area. Achcharu makes it possible for them to work at their own pace and care for their families while earning an income. Products are made from natural materials and fiber reactive, azo free dyes.


Achcharu Hut

Achcharu Hut serves healthy, all natural achcharu pickles made from Sri Lankan village fruit including mango, ambarella, pineapple, wood apple, guava, lovi, nelli, jambu, naminan, starfruit, jackfruit and veralu.


ACT Grupa

ACT Grupa strengthens business practices that create value for society and helps build a sustainable ecosystem of impact entrepreneurship in Croatia, Central and Eastern Europe, and beyond. They started in 2003 with workshops, festivals, and the first Croatian consortium of social enterprises. In order to provide examples of good practices, they founded enterprises to fill gaps in the local ecosystem. Six of these enterprises are now self-sustaining and independent. Today, ACT Grupa uses their venture-building experience to offer support programs, business consulting services, and community for impact entrepreneurs. They also provide services to civil society organizations, companies, and other partners that want to build the impact ecosystem. ACT Grupa is a not-for-profit association and a member of Diesis Network and Euclid Network.


Actimo

Actimo produces natural fertilizer with a balanced blend of nutrients for healthy plant growth. The company was started by a horticulture trainer with more than 20 years experience in order to reduce the use of synthetic agrichemicals. By providing a natural alternative, Actimo aims to improve soil health, plant health, and human health in Sri Lanka. Their liquid and pellet fertilizers are carefully formulated from a mix of seaweed, leaf mold, and chicken manure.
